Our Story 2

Three years later, the time came to pop the big question. And what better place than where we first met. Richie suggested that we should visit the Guggenheim, as we hadn't been in a while. In front of the museum, where they had first laid eyes on each other, Richie got down on one knee, in front of the crowd, and popped the question. Akiko said yes; there was applause.

Our first date began with a detailed conversation involving computer programming in Matlab; we both knew this relationship had potential. We went to a nice Thai restaurant (that no longer exists...), had cupcakes at the famous Magnolia's Bakery, and enjoyed twilight over the Hudson River. The time got away from us, and even though it was a Monday evening, we didn't part ways until close to midnight. Since then we have become essential parts of each other's lives.

We met at the Guggenheim. Yep, we sure did... although it wasn't quite like we just happened to run into each other while admiring the same work of art.

On a sunny afternoon in May of 2008, a bunch of us met for a day at the museum. Davis Erin Anderson had the idea that we should all do this to take advantage of Richie's free admission through his company. Davis invited Denise Anderson, who in turn thought it would be fun to invite her friend Akiko. Everyone had met Akiko beforehand except Richie. Davis, attempting to ensure Richie wouldn't mind a stranger coming along, said, "I think you'll like her." Little did she realize the magnitude of her understatement. We all had a great day at the museum, followed by dinner at the Boat Basin Café, and a friendly game of Scrabble. Richie asked Akiko out the next week.
